Empire Interactive is one of the original and more successful game software publishers in the world. Our success has been due, very simply, to our ability to consistently develop and publish great games for over 17 years. It's an achievement few other games publishers can match.
Headquartered in the UK, we have operations in every major territory in the world, and staff dedicated to each key link in the developing, publishing and distribution chain. Our success is based on 2 working practices:
A commitment to a high standard of product quality, and a dedication to involve our development partners in the entirety of the publishing process.
Early History
Founded in 1987, as a result of a merger between Entertainment International (UK) Ltd and Oxford Digital Enterprises, Empire Interactive began life as a leading software development company contracted by major publishers to develop both original and license-based titles.
The Company established its reputation with hit games for Disney, as well as titles such as The Hunt for Red October, Trivial Pursuit and Paul Gasgoine's "Gazza Soccer Skills".
Empire moved into the ever-growing North America market with Pipemania - one of the few games to jump from the arcade to the home console market - launched on all major platforms, including Nintendo and Sega.
In the early and mid-90's relationships with Lucasfilm and Microsoft helped Empire broaden its portfolio. Other notable early successes with Hanna Barbera and Sullivan Bluth brought mainstream cartoons such as Yogi Bear and Space Ace to the growing market.
Recent History
More recently, Empire has concentrated on developing and publishing its own product franchises across all serious platforms, from PC CD-ROM, SEGA'Dreamcast and Sony PlayStation, right through to the current generation of consoles, such as PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo GameCube and GameBoyAdvance.
The result of this can be seen in the success of games such as Flying Corps, Pro Pinball, Enemy Engaged, International Cricket Captain and more recently with current generation titles such as Starsky & Hutch, Big Mutha Truckers, Ford Racing 2 and Bad Boys II.
Empire listed on the Alternative Investment Market ("AIM") in July 2000, raising '.5m to help fund the expansion into the new range of consoles. We have spent the last three years buying-in mass appeal, major Hollywood licences, such as Bad Boys, Starsky & Hutch and Starship Troopers and developing Company owned IP, such as Flat Out, Big Mutha Truckers and Mashed.
We are focused on continuing to develop and publish quality titles for our customers across all the current platforms and into the next generation.
