Mythic Entertainment is a computer game developer located in the Washington D.C. area. We were founded in 1995 as Interworld Productions by Mark Jacobs and Rob Denton to focus on online gaming. The company name was changed to Mythic Entertainment in November 1997.
Mythic Entertainment consists of a small group of people dedicated to providing the very best in multi-player gaming. In addition to a professional team of programmers and artists, Mythic works with experienced gamers to produce the highest quality products for the gaming public.
Corporate Partnerships
Mythic and Abandon Entertainment announced a partnership in March 2000 that will be the basis of many new Mythic products. Abandon is a diversified entertainment company based in New York City that has produced TV shows, movies, and other interactive entertainment.
Vivendi Universal Games is distributing Dark Age of Camelot.
Mythic and Centropolis Interactive/Electric Entertainment -- a division of Centropolis Entertainment -- joined forces to develop Godzilla Online and Independence Day Online.. Mythic also provides games for Centropolis? gaming web site.
11:11 Productions, a music and sound effects studio, has provided the soundtracks to many Mythic games, including Spellbinder: The Nexus Conflict, Splatterball, Rolemaster: Magestorm, and Darkness Falls. Additionally, they provided sound effects for Splatterball and Splatterball Plus, and provided sound effect consultation for Rolemaster: Magestorm.
Womb Music, based in Los Angeles, California, has done the music for many of Mythic?s titles, including Dark Age of Camelot and Silent Death Online.
Brad Derrick Mythic has worked for many years with Brad Derrick, a sound and audio effects engineer and musician. Brad did the sound effects for Aliens Online, Starship Troopers: Battlespace, and Dark Age of Camelot: Shrouded Isles. |

Mark¡¯s primary responsibilities are formulating long-range strategy, participating in product development and managing the growth of the company.Prior to co-founding Mythic Entertainment, Mark was President of Adventures Unlimited Software Inc., one of the earliest developers and publishers of MMORPGs. A native of New York City, Mark earned a Juris Doctorate in 1984 from Georgetown University Law Center after graduating summa cum laude from Syracuse University.In addition to his duties as President, Mark is one of the most experienced designers and programmers in the industry.Mark has been cited as one of the ¡°pioneers and unsung heroes of the game industry.¡± Mark has over 14 years of experience in the computer gaming industry and his credits include some of the most popular online games of all time, including Dargon¡¯sGate, Rolemaster, Magestorm and Splatterball. Rob manages the ongoing development, marketing and operations of all of Mythic¡¯s products and technologies.He earned a Master¡¯s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Duke University in 1991, after graduating summa cum laude from the same school in 1989 with a degree in engineering and a minor in computer science.Rob first worked for Orbital Sciences Corporation as a communications engineer and helped successfully launch a constellation of communication satellites.He later co-founded Interesting Systems Inc., which was soon merged with Mark Jacob¡¯s company to form Mythic Entertainment.Rob is credited with designing and creating many of the core graphical, client and server technologies which formed the cornerstone of Mythic¡¯s products.

Mark is involved in all facets of Mythic¡¯s business with a specific focus on areas of finance, accounting, human resources and business development.Mark is a seasoned executive having over 25 years of professional experience with 18 years as a C-level executive driving the profitability and growth of both public and private companies in a broad range of industries including software development, internet and database technologies, services and marketing.Mark¡¯s previous positions included Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Decagon Partners; President and CEO of Availant; EVP, COO and CFO of Clarus Corporation; CFO and CAO of BridgeStreet Accommodations; CFO and Division President of CMGI.Mark¡¯s career highlights and experiences include leading three IPO¡¯s (CMGI, BridgeStreet & Clarus) and acquiring and integrating over 20 domestic and international companies.Mark is a CPA licensed in Massachusetts and is a member of the AICPA.Mark earned a BS with honors in Accounting from the University of Vermont.
Matt Shaw CTO
Matt Shaw is the Chief Technology Officer at Mythic Entertainment. In this role, he helps create and implement new technology for Dark Age of Camelot, Mythic¡¯s critically-acclaimed massively-multiplayer online game and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, their upcoming fantasy MMORPG based on the Games Workshop franchise. Matt is a 15-year veteran of the games industry, best known for the World War II flight simulation series Fighter Duel. After starting two game companies and self-publishing titles for years, Matt joined Kesmai in 1999 as Lead of the 3D engine team and the Air Warrior project. In 2001, he joined Lodestone Games, as a Principal Engineer. Matt became part of the Mythic team in 2003, and enjoys games, WWII aircraft, and the challenging and ever-evolving field of computer graphics.
Matt Firor VP, Product Development
Matt Firor is Vice President of Product Development and Executive Producer at Mythic Entertainment. In this role, he is responsible for overall vision and management of each project at Mythic, including oversight of game design and features.
An expert in the development of online games, Matt has produced (or Executive Produced) all of Mythic?s titles, including first-person shooters, top-down spaceship combat games, text-based MUDs, and the worldwide smash hit Dark Age of Camelot, and its expansion packs. He is currently working on Mythic?s just-announced Warhammer MMORPG and other internal projects.
Firor began developing games in the late 1980?s, and co-founded Interesting Systems Inc. in 1991 with Rob Denton, Mythic?s COO, to make multi-player role-playing games. After leaving ISI in 1994 to concentrate on software development, Matt re-joined Rob and Mythic?s CEO Mark Jacobs in late 1995 at the formation of Mythic Entertainment. He has been at Mythic ever since.
Eugene Evans VP, Marketing & Business Development
As the VP of Marketing and Business Development Eugene is responsible for global marketing, distribution and licensing for Mythic?s online games. As such Eugene manages Mythic?s relationships with its worldwide network of distributors and licensors, including Wanadoo/GOA in Europe and Movida in Japan. He is currently managing the marketing and distribution plans in preparation for the worldwide launch of Mythic?s new MMORPG Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning in 2007.
As a 22-year veteran of the computer, online and console gaming industry, Eugene has worked for small start-up developers, and large publishing and media companies in both Europe and North America. Eugene speaks regularly at industry events including the Game Developers Conference and is on the advisory board for the Austin Game Conference.
Jeff Hickman Executive Producer, Warhammer Online & VP of Product Operations
Jeff Hickman is Vice President of Product Operations and the Executive Producer for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, Mythic?s upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game. As such he is responsible for managing the overall strategic direction of Warhammer Online, including all design and production of the game. Jeff maintains the overall vision for Warhammer Online, and will ensure that it takes its place as a world-wide leader in the online gaming market.
Jeff began his career building, managing and maintaining large volume call centers in the Customer Support sector. Jeff?s talent for resolving customer service issues led him to work for organizations including UniCapital and the Portland, Oregon Metropolitan Transit Authority. In 2001, Mythic Entertainment gave him the opportunity to combine his unique vision of customer service with his other love - online gaming.Since then Jeff has worked on all aspects of the MMO lifecycle, from Design and Production, through Operations and Customer Support.Recently moving from his position as Executive Producer for Dark Age of Camelot, he now focuses all of his attention on Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
