Taking place centuries after the events of the original EverQuest, this second installment introduces fans to a very different Norrath: a planet that in 500 years has endured numerous catastrophes that have changed its nature and altered the destinies of its people. The planet?s moon Luclin collided with Norrath, bringing about an entire "Age of Cataclysms" that included not only "The Shattering" (the collision of Luclin with Norrath), but also many other catastrophes such as world wars and divine interference. Now, during Norrath?s "Time of Destiny," players will explore through the shadows of these events that Norrath has endured over the past 500 years.

Travel to a galaxy far, far away to join thousands of other gamers as they battle for the Alliance, the Empire, or their own survival and prosperity. Multimedia giant LucasArts Entertainment enters the realm of persistent-world gaming with Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. As in founding MMORPGs, such as EverQuest and Asheron?s Call, the Galaxies player begins by creating an online personality, choosing the character?s race, appearance, and profession. Unlike other massively multiplayer games, however, LucasArts? virtual worlds are set in the sci-fi Star Wars universe.

Online Shooter PlanetSide is designed to combine the best aspects of first-person shooter action and massively multiplayer persistent-world role-playing. Players enter a large and seamless virtual world of 13 separate continents, each up to 64 square kilometers in area. Instead of physical attributes or wealth, characters are defined by the certifications they choose. Different certifications allow the use of different types of weapons, vehicles, and gadgetry, most of which are easily available at any friendly supply base.
